Festival of Trees

Though this Christmas may be different in so many way, the Festival of Trees will continue to provide opportunities for giving.  The trees are up in the foyer through Advent and Christmas.  You may wish to drop off your donated items or choose to make a financial donation.  You can use this page to do so. To make your donation, please select the Other Payments Fund, then the Festival of Trees Fund. Once you get to the payment page, in the memo line, please indicate where you you would like your donation to go.

Food Pantry

People with food insecurities are on the rise during this pandemic.  Food banks and pantries continue to be open and very busy. Throughout the year we collect nonperishable food items, along with diapers, toiletries and feminine hygiene products for the Emergency Food Pantry.  Please continue to give generously to help with this increasing need.

Sweet Dreams

For the past few years, we have taken donations to this “tree” and turned them into mattress sets and bedding for individuals and families moving from homelessness to a place to call home.  Approximate cost of a single mattress set is $250 and for a queen set, $280.  Your donations will be pooled to provide  a good night’s sleep!

Mittens and Socks

This is the longest standing tree!  We’ve been providing new, gently used and homemade mittens, hats, scarves for years and years at First Presbyterian! The Sox Box under the tree will be for new warm socks.  All the items will be given to local shelters. You can bring your donations to the church or donate money to buy new winter gear and socks.

Christmas in Chogoria, Kenya

During this pandemic, there are many friends in Kenya who are suffering increased food insecurity. In the dry areas, where food scarcity is an on-going problem, the shutting down of local markets and small kiosks has intensified the problem. Now, there is no market where the baskets made from local grasses can be sold or rice and oranges can be purchased. So, there is no way to raise funds to purchase food and no food to purchase. When there is no rain, there are no crops grown in the small gardens. The problem is great. This Christmas, please give the gift of beans, maize, rice, mangos, oranges - the gift of food for our friends who are hungry.
200 lbs beans = $80
200 lbs maize = $30
110 lbs rice = $40
5 mangoes = $0.20
1 orange = $0.05
All donations will go to the Presbytery Chogoria Hunger fund.
