Before pursuing his doctorate, his tenure at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck afforded him opportunities to work with vocal choirs, handbells, brass, and wind ensembles. Trinity was also the host and sponsor of Bismarck's nearly 70-year tradition of presenting Handel's Messiah during Advent/Christmas. He was privileged to conduct it six times. David loves to cook, read, go to movies, and travel. David will officially begin his ministry with us on June 30. His office will be upstairs in the staff office area. We participate in most of the 11:00 worship services. Because we also rehearse on Sunday mornings at 10:00 , people who can’t attend the Wednesday evening rehearsals can also be involved. Once a month or so we have treats and fellowship during the last 15 minutes of choir rehearsal. Come and join us as your schedule allows!

Children’s Choirs

Our three children’s choirs meet simultaneously on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:00 PM. They are directed by talented and committed musicians who love children as much as they love music. The Friendship Choir is directed by Andrea Smith and is for children Kindergarten through 2nd grade . The Kids of the Kingdom Choir is directed by Pam Burns and incorporates 3rd graders through 6th graders . And Shelley Zietz directs the Proclamation Choir for 7th through 12th graders . Each choir will sing at 6-8 worship services a year, usually the early one.

Handbell Choirs

We now have three handbell choirs: Jubilate, the children’s handbell choir, is for 3rd graders through 6th grade, meets at 5:45 PM every Wednesday evening, and is directed by Mary Beth Berg. The Westminster Ringers meet from 5:45 until 6:45 PM every Monday evening. This choir is comprised of adults and college students and is directed by Jill Post. Our brand new Youth Handbell choir will be meeting on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM. We have room for more members in this choir, also directed by Jill Post. All three choirs will always welcome new members and do our best to help new people feel at home.

Brass Ensemble

This group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30 and plays around once a month. Intermediate or advanced players in high school and older are most welcome to join us. Please contact Jill Post or any other member of the brass group for more information.

String Ensemble

Our string ensemble meets at noon on Sundays for several weeks prior to a scheduled service. They will participate in worship 5-6 times during the school year. This group is open to high school and older. See Mary Beth Berg to inquire about this group.

The Organ

For information about First Presbyterian Church's Schantz Organ, please see this brochure.
