God who guides us in moments of light and of dark, of happy and of sad, give us light on the days we need it, and let us give it to others around us. Empower us to work through the darkness of the world, because with your help, we will find our way out of the shadows. In your name, Amen.

God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let us confess our sins to God.

God of Second Chances, You offer us another chance when we need it. Forgive us for when we do not listen to our mom or dad and when we hurt our siblings by hitting, pushing, or punching or with our words. Forgive us when we talk behind other’s backs. Forgive us when we cheat or when we are irresponsible with our homework. Forgive us for the way we treat the world you have given to us. Please give us second chances, Amen.

Lesson "Being the Light" Scripture Selections (2017 Children's and Youth Service)
Matthew 5:16
You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bushel do you? I’m putting you on a light stand – shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
Matthew 25:40-41
I’m telling you the truth. Whenever you failed to something to someone who was overlooked or ignored, that was me – you failed to do it to me.
Hebrews 13:16
Make sure you don’t take things for granted. Don’t quit working for the common good; share what you have with others. God really takes pleasure when you sacrifice in the world.
Galatians 6:9
So let’s not allow ourselves to get tired of doing good. We will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up or quit. Right now, then, every time we get a chance, let us work for the good of all, starting with the people closest to us.
Micah 6:8
God has told us what he wants from us. It’s quite simple. Do what is right to other people. Love being kind and humbly obey God.

Responding to God’s Word

Statement of Faith                                       The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People, ending with the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Call for the Offering, ending with the Prayer of Dedication
